ATTRACTING AND CARING FOR NATIVE BEES IN YOUR GARDEN - Thursday June 10
Tracy Lansdell is one of the south west’s mostly knowledgeable native bee experts. Based in Greenbushes where she runs her Green Tree Naturopathy business, Tracy has spent the last twenty years understanding the importance of plants in our daily lives.
Early on, she realised the critical role that bees play in sustaining the world’s plants and today she is a tireless campaigner to protect and encourage native bees in domestic gardens.
With over 1600 species of native bees in Australia and 800 in WA, Tracy has found over 30 species in her garden.
In her talk, she will describe some of the native bees we’re likely to find in our south west gardens, what plants to grow to encourage bees and how to build ‘bee hotels’ and do other things to care for them once they’ve become residents of your garden.
Tracy will be presenting to the Busselton Naturalists Club at our next meeting on Thursday June 10. Venue is the Busselton Senior Citizens Centre, 22 Peel Terrace, Busselton, commencing at 7.30pm.
The meeting is open to the public and is free of charge, although a gold coin donation to cover venue hire costs will be appreciated.
