CITIZEN SCIENCE AND BEACH NESTING BIRDS – MEETING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 9
This Thursday evening November 9, Christine Wilder from the Cape to Cape Bird Group is the Busselton Naturalists Club’s guest speaker.
Her talk is entitled Volunteering Long Term – 25 years of Beach Nesting Birds in the Capes Region and it will describe the huge effort over 25 years to monitor, educate and protect beach-nesting birds such as the Hooded Plover.
Christine is the convenor of the Cape to Cape Bird Group and she has been instrumental in raising public awareness about all bird-related issues in the Capes region.
She has put together a team of volunteers to monitor south west beaches to inform people about the dangers to nesting birds from dogs, people, offroad vehicles and a range of natural and human-related threats.
The meeting will be held at the Senior Citizens Centre, 22 Peel Terrace, Busselton, starting at 7.30pm.
The meeting is open to the public and is free to attend, although a gold coin donation to help cover meeting costs will be appreciated.
