Owls in the South West - meeting on Thursday August 12
Owls in the south west are under threat, thanks to the popular use of rodenticides which not only kill rats and mice but kill the birds that eat poisoned rodents.
Dr Boyd Wykes has been instrumental in raising public awareness of this threat and he will be talking to the Busselton Naturalists Club this coming Thursday August 12 about owls and the threats they face.
His talk entitled ‘Owl Friendly Margaret River’ will describe the owls found in the south west and how to stop the unnecessary deaths of birds that provide huge benefits to householders and farmers.
The meeting will be held in the Busselton Senior Citizens Centre, 22 Peel terrace, Busselton, starting at 7.30pm.
The meeting is open to the public and is free of charge, although a gold coin donation to cover hall hire costs will be appreciated.
