WALK ALONG THE TUTUNUP TO WONNERUP RAILWAY LINE - SATURDAY AUGUST 21
On Saturday August 21, the Club will help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the state’s oldest steam engine, the Ballaarat, by walking 7 kilometres along its former route.
The train was used for more than 20 years to haul timber from the forests south east of Busselton to the former jetty at Wonnerup.
The walk will start on Ruabon Road and take walkers along the route of the Tutunup to Wonnerup rail line, including almost 3 kilometres through the tuart forest.
A bus will pick up walkers from Wonnerup House at 9.00am and a seat on the bus will cost $10.
Thanks to sponsorship from the City of Busselton, lunch will be provided as part of the $10 charge and walkers will be invited to stay on for the official ceremony to commemorate the 150th anniversary which starts at 1.00pm.
Seats on the bus need to be booked by replying to this email or by phoning Club president Bernie Masters on 0408 944 242.
If necessary, the bus will make two trips to deliver walkers to the start of the walk, but we need to know the number of walkers so we can order the correct number of lunches!
