Open to the public.
Dr Belinda Davis is a research scientist whose work is helping to secure the future of Western Australia’s remarkable native orchids.
Through the Kings Park Science Orchid Conservation Program, Dr Davis has played a leading role in the conservation of some of our state’s rarest and most threatened orchid species. Her work has included the successful translocation of critically endangered orchids into the wild and the establishment of comprehensive ex situ collections for a further 16 species.
These achievements have helped bring several orchid species back from the brink of extinction, making a significant contribution to the preservation of Western Australia’s unique botanical heritage.
This is an opportunity to learn about the challenges of orchid conservation, the science behind species recovery, and the inspiring success stories emerging from this important work.
