Oct. Wildflower Excursion: Minninup
Date: Sunday, Sept 5
Time & Meeting Points:
9:30 am – Meet at ECU Learning Centre car park, 38 Peel Terrace, Busselton, for carpooling
or
10:00 am – Meet at the reserve on Minninup Rd, see map below for details.
Join Bronwyn Mutton from the Capel Land Conservation District Committee (CLCDC) for a guided visit to Mininnup Tuart Forest National Park. Discover the success of local conservation efforts, including the Mininnup Protection Fence, which has enabled remarkable regeneration of native flora—over 100 species, including orchids and Banksias—and supports vital habitats for birds, possums, and bandicoots.
This area, part of a Threatened Ecological Community, has become a living example of how fencing and protection from grazing can revive and sustain native ecosystems.
The walk will be followed by a picnic lunch at the reserve, then a visit to ‘Fisherman’s Road Art Gallery’, Capel.
